Privacy Policy

PlayBook ("PlayBook," "we," "us," or "our") operates a free, map-based directory that helps parents and guardians discover local children's activities and public places. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using PlayBook you agree to this policy.

Who this is for

PlayBook is intended for use by parents, guardians, and other adults (18+). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow children to create accounts. See Children's privacy below.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a password, or — if you sign in with Google — your name, email address, and Google profile basics. We do not receive your Google password.
• Profile and preferences. Optional details you choose to add, such as your home town or search area and search radius.
• Saved activities. Providers and places you favourite, and any collection labels you assign (e.g. saved, shortlist, tried).
• Usage and device data.Basic log data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed) and which provider links you click through to ("outbound clicks"), so we can understand what is useful and report activity to providers in aggregate.
• Approximate location. We use the map area you are viewing to show nearby results. You can search any area; we do not require precise device location.

How we use your information

• To operate and personalize the directory and your saved lists.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To measure interest and provide aggregate, non-identifying click statistics to listed providers.
• To respond to you and send service-related messages.
• To maintain, improve, and protect PlayBook.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run the service:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf, including Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Resend (transactional email), and MapTiler and Google (maps and Google sign-in). These providers are permitted to use the data only to provide their services to us.
• Listed providers receive only aggregate, non-identifying statistics about clicks and saves — never your personal contact details.
• Legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.

When you click through to a provider's own website or contact details, you leave PlayBook and that third party's own privacy practices apply.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the site. We do not use them for third-party advertising.

Children's privacy

PlayBook is an adults-only service for parents and guardians, and we do not collect personal information from or about children. Accounts are for adults; you can browse and filter activities by age without creating any profile for a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention and your choices

We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can view and update your profile, children, and saved lists at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
